Framed, Semi-Frameless And Frameless Glass Pool Fencing: What To Know
When you install a glass fence around a pool, you have to decide which type of support system to use. People can use framed, semi-frameless or frameless fences here.
If you aren't sure which type of fencing to choose, then read on to learn more about these three options.
How Does Framed Glass Pool Fencing Work?
If you choose framed fencing, then your contractor will construct a metal frame around your pool. They will then insert sheets of glass into this frame. The frame holds the glass in place.
These frames typically have side posts that sit between each sheet of glass. These posts are either screwed onto the ground or concreted into it. Frames also have horizontal railings running along the tops and bottoms of the fencing.
This option works well if you are happy to see the frames around your pool. If you don't have much of a view, then visible frames might not bother you. You might also prefer to make your fences more visible so that people don't accidentally walk or run into them.
How Does Semi-Frameless Glass Pool Fencing Work?
Semi-frameless fencing uses a frame; however, this frame doesn't go around all the glass in your fences. So, for example, you might simply use vertical holding posts between glass sheets without top or bottom railing supports.
You do have some flexibility here, however. While some people stick to a minimal side-post design, others also add a top rail to finish the fencing off. Or, they might insert their glass into spigots on the ground rather than into side posts. They then use top and bottom rails to create the design they want.
Semi-frameless fencing is less obtrusive. If you remove some of the fencing's framework, then you get a clearer view of your pool and the surrounding area.
How Does Frameless Glass Pool Fencing Work?
Frameless fencing doesn't use a traditional frame. Here, your contractor puts spigot posts onto or into the ground. The glass slides into these posts; they support each sheet from the base. Your fences don't contain any horizontal or vertical posts or railings.
Frameless fencing is popular with people who want a clearer view around their pool or a minimal fence design. These fences are held in place from their bases, so they don't have any visible framework.
